My first full collection of fabrics (or whatever!) in the form of frosting, waxy cookies, dinos, and sprinkles. It’s a mix of the iconic and the extinct. This fabric collection has gone a long way to make a great selection of baby and kid clothing and accessories. I’ve made a custom pair of overalls, overall shorts, overall dresses with bloomers contrasting fabric, a mixed fabric dress, hair bows, bibs, bandanas, and taggie squares. Oh…AND…face masks. Because that’s the world we live in now. I also managed to sell (not much, but some and it’s a start) fabric in the sprinkle and blue/white dino fabric. Hoo-rah. Baby and kid items made from this fabric may be purchased in the Keats Yeats Etsy shop.
Frosted Dino Circus fabric is available by the yard at Spoonflower. I came up with this rendering of some very happy herbivores for a Spoonflower Design challenge with a dinosaur theme. I personally love the colors and little smiling faces, but the public did not agree. I came in at approximately 1 millionth. No matter…I carry on. See what's available in the Keats Yeats Etsy shop.
Fabric is available for purchase by the yard at Spoonflower. Cute puppies made of simple shapes in four color ways. Hooray! Printed as fabric they would be great for children’s items. In fact, my Origami Puppers (in yellow!) was the first custom printed fabric I ordered "en mass" (it's all relative, right?) specifically for this reason. I went with the yellow/doggy combo because it's gender (and everything) neutral and I wanted to make a number of items for my Etsy shop that would work for any kid. There are a number of fun things for the little guys in the Keats Yeats Etsy shop.
Also available as fabric at Spoonflower. The first in a collection of food prints that feature my son’s favorite food paired with circles. WOWEE! Circles. Can you even…just? Here are eggs. I don’t much care to be around eggs, but I also don’t like having snot wiped on my work shirts, and that’s something that happens on the regular too. A trend! Some items are available in the Keats Yeats Etsy shop.
Fabric is available for purchase at Spoonflower. Well, I participated (again) in a design challenge and this time did my best ever, making it to the top 75. Just barely. I came in at 73. While I’m excited about that (my goal now is to break the top 50), I’m also, like, what? This particular design was simple, unexciting, not very inspired, and kind of bland…yet got me my most “likes” so far. The challenge this time around was to design a relaxing and neutral duvet cover. I admittedly put less effort into this one than any other fabric I have come up with in the past. Mostly I just wanted to play around with paint brush tools. And I only wanted to do that after investing a ton of time into trying to figure out a repeating herringbone pattern that just did not work out. So, is this is this a lesson learned for me? Am I wasting too much time on actual drawings that aren’t as good as splotches of paint? Sigh. No secret here: I have not idea what I’m doing. I’ll just keep on anyway.
“Shhh…I Finally Got Her Down” is available for purchase as fabric, home decor, and more right here! This one was a little ambitious, but I thought clever. Comprised of a whole collection of different images meant to imitate Boy Scout badges. The design was entered into a pirate-themed design challenge at Spoonflower. I placed 180/326, so in the middle. I've sold a little of this one, which is always fun.
You might call this a copycat version of Any Warhol’s “Mao”. I do too, but I also call it Pop Meow! Bright colors and bow ties look great on my friend’s (late, great) kitty cat, Huxley.
I haven’t done a whole lot with this pattern yet, though it was one of the early fabrics that I had printed up. I love the happy green and yellow. And the tropical feel. I will probably try to do a bit more with it. Not sure I love it for kids clothes per se…but something else for the little ones. Items made from this fabric are available in the Keats Yeats Etsy shop.
That’s Bananas! fabric may be purchased at Spoonflower. I have a thing about poppies. Mostly California poppies. Perhaps it's nostalgic since I grew up in California and they were everywhere by the road side most summers. Or perhaps it's just the amazing color. That orange is just something else. I really took the color and ran with it here.
This one is now available for purchase, though I may revisit the color contrast in the future. We'll see. Inspired by my little son's Hanna Andersson socks, this simple design remains one of my favorite. I love the punch of bright colors. And socks are funny. A friend suggested that these would be a great laundry room wallpaper. I have to agree. From L to R: Sensory Square in Wesley's Little Socks (sold out), Sock Socks! sketch, original inspiration, repeat pattern, quilted sensory square..
